yadkin_winter_reds_logoOur Fifth Annual “Yadkin Winter Reds” wine event will be held January 25-26, 2014 and February 22-23, 2014.  Enjoy two weekends of wonderful wine and food in Yadkin County.   Looking for a day trip or a weekend getaway, then come visit Yadkin County and enjoy the annual Yadkin Winter Reds Event sponsored by the Town of Yadkinville and Yadkin County Tourism Development Authorities. This is a great opportunity for you to visit Yadkin County wineries and taste the excellent wines that are being produced. 

All Yadkin County wineries will feature their "Winter Red" (2 oz. pour) paired with a small serving of a tasty food item. The hours will be Saturday Noon to 5 pm and Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm. Ticket price to attend will be $20.00 per person per weekend.  Each ticketholder will be assigned to a starting winery where they will receive their souvenir glass and a map. Ticket is good for both days on the selected weekend you choose - one visit per winery.

New this year, Winter Reds will be offering a wine dinner during each weekend. The event will be held Friday, January 24 and Friday, February 21.  The wine dinner will feature a seven course meal beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Sanders Ridge Vineyard & Restaurant.  The cost is $65.00 per person includes taxes and gratuity.  A wine from each vineyard will be paired with a course during their participating weekend. Limited tickets will be sold for the wine dinners.    

Also, during your visit enjoy a movie at the Willingham Theater in the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center.  The January movie will be the movie Sideways.  Sideways is a movie about two men reaching middle age with not much to show but disappointment, embark on a week long road trip through California's wine country, just as one is abou to take a trip down the aisle.  The February movie will be the movie Somm.  Somm is a documentary about four sommeliers attempt to pass the prestigious Master Sommelier exam, a test with one of the lowest pass rates in the world.  

Each movie will begin at 7:00 p.m. and is free admission as part of your Winter Red ticket purchase.  Light refreshments and wine will be served before each movie.


The chef for the Wine Dinners will be 
Christian Froelich is the Executive Chef of the Twin City Quarter complex in downtown Winston-Salem.  The Twin City Quarter consists of the Marriott Hotel, Embassy Suites Hotel and Benton Convention Center.  Chef Froelich is a local born native of Winston-Salem and received his Culinary degree from Johnson & Wales University. In the past
17 years Chef Froelich has worked in the kitchens of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Buckhead, Atlanta; Noble's Restaurants in Winston-Salem, High Point and Charlotte, among others.   With a great love for North Carolina and the Triad, Chef Froelich's food has been referred to as "Rustic Refined" as he marries the old world and the new with well thought out flavors and presentations delighting his diners.

Course 1 - Hors d'oeurves - Duck Confit Springrolls, Baby Panzanella in Parmesan Cups, Herb Whipped Goat Cheese in Pastry Shells, Sundried Tomato, Olive & Mozzarella Skewers

Course 2 - Winter Vegetable Stew with Chili Fried Wild Rice "Popcorn" (Vegan)

Course 3 - Citrus Salmons with Asparagus & Winter Green Salad with Crispy Pork Belly Croutons
(Vegan - Savory Sauteed Apples with Asparagus & Winter Green Salad with Pine Nuts)

Course 4 - (Intermezzo) Wine Granite (Vegan)

Course 5 - Roast Joyce Farms Naked Duck Breast with Smoked Almond Wilted Kale & Winterberry Gastrique
(Vegan - Tempeh & Seared Water Chestnuts with Smoked Almond Wilted Kale)

Course 6 - Beef Tournado with Potatoes Dauphinoise & Carrot Bechamel
(Vegan - Umame Mushroom Pie with Carrot Puree)

Course 7 - Chocolate Torte with Dried Cherry Ganache & Chantilly Cream
(Vegan - Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries & Strawberries)


Only a limited number of tickets are sold for each weekend. Tickets must be purchased by January 22, 2014.

 Hanover Park Vineyard will serve Lamb Dish with Beans, Southern French Style paired with Michael's Blend 
 Laurel Gray Vineyard will serve SunDried Tomato Pesto Ham Sandwiches paired with 2012 Estate Cabernet Franc
 Shadow Springs Vineyard will serve Beef Stew paired with Merlot 
 Windsor Run Cellars will serve Chocolate Cheesecake paired with Judges Verdict
 Yadkin Valley Wine Company will serve Cranberry and Orange Cheese Spread on Buttery Cracker paired with Red Jewel  

  

Only a limited number of tickets are sold for each weekend. Tickets must be purchased by February 20, 2014.

 RagApple Lassie Vineyards will serve Honey Apple Wrap paired with Kaledoscope Red
 Sanders Ridge Vineyards will serve Seasoned Beff Carpaccio with Arugula, Spicy Pecans and Cabernet Franc Syrup paired with Cabernet Franc
